About Me

Hi, I'm Lisa —

the Hippie Chick behind Hippie Chick Design.

I've been in ecommerce for a long time — long before Shopify even existed.

Back in 1997, I launched Beauty Cafe, one of the early online beauty boutiques dedicated to niche beauty and fragrance brands that deserved more than a shelf at the mall. What started as a passion project became a real business — and eventually a brick-and-mortar boutique too, where I got to experience firsthand what it means to build a brand that people actually walk through the door for.

That journey from indie online shop to physical storefront shaped everything about how I work today. Because behind every online store is a person with a dream — and helping bring those dreams to life never gets old.

A Lifetime in Ecommerce

Most Shopify designers know how to build a store. What I bring is something different: I've actually been the founder on the other side of the screen.

I built Beauty Cafe before there were templates, before there were apps, before any of this was easy. I figured it out because I had to — and I fell in love with the process. Over the years, living and working between Los Angeles and Texas gave me exposure to two very different creative and business cultures, and the clients and brands I worked with reflected that range.

Today, based in North Texas, I work with founders across beauty, fashion, lifestyle, and specialty retail — helping them launch, redesign, and grow Shopify stores that are as thoughtful and intentional as the businesses behind them.

Strategy First. Design Second.

A beautiful Shopify store is important — but a beautiful store without a clear strategy rarely converts.

Before I touch a single layout or choose a theme, I want to understand your customer, your brand, and how your store should guide someone from curious to convinced. That thinking comes from years of running my own businesses — knowing that the difference between a store that works and one that doesn't usually comes down to whether it was built with intention.

Sometimes that means starting with creative strategy before anything gets built. Other times it means stepping into an existing store, figuring out what's working and what isn't, and making smart, focused improvements. Either way, the design always serves the strategy — not the other way around.

Why Clients Work With Me

I've been where you are.

I know what it feels like to have a product you believe in and a store that isn't doing it justice. I know the frustration of not understanding why something isn't converting, or feeling like your site looks nothing like the brand in your head. I know what it's like to run a business and not have time to figure out Shopify on top of everything else.

That's exactly why I work the way I do — meeting clients where they are, explaining things in plain language, and building stores that actually feel like the business behind them.

Clients come to me through the Shopify Partners directory, through referrals, and sometimes just because the name made them smile. However they find me, they usually stay because the experience feels different from what they expected. Less transactional. More like a real collaboration.

A Little More About Me

When I'm not working with clients, you'll find me exploring new ideas, cooking something delicious, traveling, or photographing the world around me.

I've always believed that business should be creative, personal, and a little adventurous. That's how I've lived — and it's exactly how I approach the work I do with you.

Peace. Love. Shopify. 🌸
