About Me
Hi, I'm Lisa —
the Hippie Chick behind Hippie Chick Design.
I’ve been in ecommerce for a long time — long before Shopify even existed.
Back in 1997, I launched Beauty Cafe, one of the early online beauty boutiques. What started as a passion for indie beauty brands and creative entrepreneurship eventually led me to helping other founders bring their own ideas to life online.
Today through Hippie Chick Design, I work with entrepreneurs and small brands to build thoughtful Shopify stores, develop strong brand foundations, and navigate the ever-changing world of ecommerce.
Because behind every online store is a person with a dream — and helping bring those dreams to life never gets old.
A Lifetime in Ecommerce
My journey into ecommerce started long before it became what it is today.
In the early days of the internet, I created Beauty Cafe — an online boutique dedicated to discovering and supporting independent beauty brands. It quickly grew into a thriving online business and gave me a front-row seat to the evolution of ecommerce.
Over the years, I’ve worked with hundreds of founders, retailers, and creative entrepreneurs building their online stores, refining their brands, and navigating the many moving pieces that come with running an ecommerce business.
That experience shaped the way I work today: combining creative strategy, thoughtful design, and practical guidance to help founders build brands they’re proud of.
Strategy First. Design Second.
A beautiful Shopify store is important — but a beautiful store without strategy rarely converts.
That’s why I approach every project by looking at the bigger picture first:
- Who is your customer?
- What makes your brand unique?
- How should your store guide people toward a purchase?
Sometimes that means starting with creative strategy. Other times it means refining an existing store through a redesign or thoughtful improvements.
Either way, the goal is always the same: creating a Shopify store that reflects your brand and supports your business.
Why Clients Work With Me
Most Shopify designers know how to build a store.
What I bring is decades of experience actually running an e-commerce and brick-and-mortar business.
That perspective allows me to look beyond the design and think about the bigger picture — your brand, your customer, and how your store fits into your overall business.
Clients often tell me they appreciate having a partner who not only understands Shopify but also understands what it’s like to be a founder.

A Little More About Me
When I’m not working with clients, you’ll usually find me exploring new ideas, cooking something delicious, traveling, photographing the world around me, or spending time with the people I love.
I’ve always believed that business should be creative, personal, and a little adventurous.
And that’s exactly how I approach the work I do with my clients.
Peace. Love. Shopify.
