Why a Mailbox or UPS Address Is Safer Than Publishing Your Home Address
If you run a small business, side hustle, or online shop, your address often needs to appear somewhere—on your website, invoices, shipping labels, or legal pages. But using your home address isn’t always the best or safest choice.
A mailbox service or UPS address offers an extra layer of privacy and peace of mind. Instead of publicly sharing where you live, your personal address stays protected from strangers, unsolicited visitors, and unwanted mail. This is especially important for women-owned businesses, solo entrepreneurs, and anyone working from home.
When I first started Beauty Cafe, a man showed up at my front door on Christmas Eve, drunk and looking to buy his wife a Christmas present. I almost had to call the police. We didn’t have UPS stores back then so I got a PO Box but I’ve had a UPS store address ever since then. Not only for security but for convenience. I don’t have to worry about mail or packages being stolen and I don’t have to sit and wiat for the man in brown anymore.
Using a mailbox or UPS address also creates a more professional presence. Customers see a legitimate business address rather than a residential one, which builds trust without sacrificing personal boundaries.
Most importantly, it separates your business life from your personal life. Packages, returns, and correspondence go to a secure location—so your home remains just that: home.
In today’s digital world, protecting your privacy isn’t being cautious—it’s being smart.
